Michael T. Gault’s inspiration for creating colorful moving works of art is his multinational upbringing. His paintings capture the diversity of his experiences throughout the Azores, Europe and the United States.
Michael T. Gault was born in 1958 on the island of Terceira in the Azores. With a father in the military, he learned from a young age that ‘home’ was relative. Before he turned ten years old, he had already moved five times and lived in four countries. Gault moved to Austin, Texas in 1968 with a budding interest in art. It was here that he finally rooted himself and began to create the colorful abstracts that he says, are “a moment of movement…captured.”
