GSRP Welcomes Thomas Bounty

GSRP takes great pride in announcing that Thomas M. Bounty has joined the firm as a partner. While Tom began his legal career in private practice, he comes to GSRP as a 28-year veteran of the life insurance industry, having held senior executive positions with major insurance companies, most recently with Zurich American Life Insurance Company. He unquestionably enjoys a stellar reputation as one of the private placement life insurance market’s most respected legal, tax, and product experts.

In his new role with GSRP, Tom will counsel high net worth individuals and family offices in the design and implementation of domestic and international private placement life insurance and annuity structures with a focus on minimizing tax burdens while fulfilling charitable and legacy planning goals. He will also advise investment management companies seeking to participate in the private placement life insurance realm through the establishment of insurance dedicated funds. Steven Baker Joins GSRP

As we begin 2014, it is with pleasure that we at GSRP have added Steven D. Baker to our team of attorneys. Steven brings 15 years of estate planning and tax expertise to GSRP. He is both an attorney and CPA, and is Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate.

Steven has extensive prior experience in both large and small firm environments providing quality, personalized estate planning, probate, and trust services to individuals and families, as well as counseling fiduciaries on a wide variety of trust and estate administration matters. He will primarily assist GSRP’s clients with domestic estate planning and tax matters, but will also support GSRP’s large family relationships in relation to their closely held business, complex trust administration, charitable foundation, and tax compliance needs. We welcome Steven and look forward to working with him.

Peggy Ugent Appointed to AICPA Panel

Peggy Ugent is appointed to the American Institute of CPA’s Trust, Estate and Gift Tax Technical Resource Panel for the 2013-2014 year. The 10-person panel monitors legislative and regulatory activity, meets and collaborates with technical staff at IRS and the Department of the Treasury and other professional groups, and supports the AICPA membership by developing products and services to assist members in tax practice.

BNA Bloomberg published Tax Management Portfolio 870, Private Placement Life Insurance and Annuities, authored by GSRP’s Leslie Giordani and Bob Chesner, on September 2, 2013. Portfolio 870 explores all facets of PPLI and PPVA as financial products, and offers an in-depth examination of the uses of PPLI and PPVA, focusing on their importance as investment tools that have powerful applications in the areas of estate, income tax, and asset protection planning.
